Skin-tan removal home remedies

The onset of summer brings fun and frolic with swimming and beach holidays, but the sun burn Is on your mind. You go out for few minutes in the scorching heat and you get big brown patch on your skin because of excessive melanin production. Before you go in the sun it is essential to cover them with good SPF sunscreen to avoid tanning. However there is one more condition where prolonged exposure would fade away the protective effects of sunscreen, it maybe because of heavy sweating or any other reason.

Sun burns and sun tans are difficult to deal with, however some of us who have got it need to deal with it, you can start with granular exfoliate regularly and avoiding sun exposure while using sunscreen with higher SPF would help in getting rid of sun tans rapidly
In addition to these measures a few home remedies might be useful for getting you closer to your goal.
1. Mesh potato and apply the juice along with raw and rub it on affected areas gently for few minutes and leave it for some time to dry up before you wash it off.
2. Raw potato juice can also be mixed with lemon juice because of its natural bleaching properties.
3. Concoct cucumber and mesh it very fine and than add lemon juice and fullers earth, smear this preparation on the affected areas for 15 Minutes and than wash it off with cold water
• A mixture of yogurt and lemon juice applied on the problematic spots for about 15 minutes before taking a shower can be a good way to lighten the color of your skin.
Again take some lemon juice add yogurt with it and apply it on problematic spots for 10 to 15 Minutes before bath. This preparation is very good for lightening skin tone.
• Alternatively a paste made with yogurt, honey and turmeric can have a similar effect. Leave this paste on the problem areas for twenty minutes than rinse with lukewarm water.

Very ancient remedy to lighten skin 
• Mix sesame seed oil, olive oil and almond oil in the ratio 4:1:1 and apply it on your skin. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water using gram flour/besan or a mild soap. This is an effective natural remedy to get rid of suntan. It also improves complexion.
• Squeeze lemon juice in a cup, add some sugar and a few drops of glycerin to it. Use this to scrub the tanned area. Use you the tip of you fingers in a rhythmic and gentle motion. This treatment will not only help you get rid of the tan but soften the skin as well. Mix 1/4 cup of lemon juice to 1/2 cup sugar. Use a loofah and scrub.
• Use potato peels as they have antioxidant properties that whiten the skin.
• Apply mashed cucumber on the affected area. It has cooling properties that soothe the skin and lighten it as well.
• A blend of almond and sandalwood paste is also helps get rid of tans. Sandalwood is known to soothe and lighten the skin.
• Effect of sunburn could be prevented by this home remedy. Mix 1 tsp potato juice, in 1 tsp of lemon juice and apply it on affected area. Leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it off. Repeat the process once a day till you get rid of sun tan.

• Mix tomato juice with a little curd and apply. Wash it off after 20 minutes.
• Use of natural scrub like oatmeal ( add warm water to oatmeal, mix it well to form a paste) helps to remove dead skin cells and stimulate blood circulation.
• Mix a little fresh lemon juice, gram flour ( besan) and curd and apply it on the skin for 15 minutes regularly to get rid of sun tan.
• The key with these natural home remedy is consistence. Make sure to apply these natural remedies on a regular basis to be able to see gradual improvements.

Summers are here with a big bang. We all love the shiny happy bright summer days. But every good thing in this world comes with glitches. To full fill that we have got TAN, pfft. The amount of precaution we have to not get tan is ridiculous. From sunsceens, to scarves , glares  all start to become your top most priority. But somehow you still tend to get it. If you look up on the internet there are several ways to get rid of tan at home. I use the following 3 and trust me they work wonders.

Yes! Tomato is the best tan remover. Just cut a fresh tomato in pieces and rub it on your skin for 5mins. Leave it to dry. Wash it off with cold water after a few mins. Not only does it remove the tan but also gives your skin a fresh look.

2) Oats and Milk
Oats are considered to be the best exfoliating agents for the skin. Oats and milk are the best combination for tan removal. You could also try different combinations like oats +milk + honey  or  oats + cream + jojoba oil  or oats + yogurt.
Take about 2tbps oats : 1tbsp milk. Dont let the mixture be too runny or too dry. 
Apply this pack on face and leave it for 15 mins. Wash it off with cold water. 

3) Lemon and Honey
Lemon is the best natural bleach. Not only does it remove the tan but also makes the skin lighter. Plain lemon juice leaves the skin dry. That is why it has to be mixed with  honey.
Take a half sliced lemon, squeeze and add about 1tbsp honey. Mix well. Take a cotton sob and apply it. Leave it for 15 mins. Wash it with cold water.


Home remedies are no doubt the best and the safest. But there are a few things you need to bear in mind.

1) Before applying any pack, ALWAYS wash your face with cold water and tap it dry. Leave it a but moist.

2) Always check for which elements suit your skin the best.

3) While making oat packs, keep in mind to not over use oats as they can be abrasive on the skin and may leave mild rashes. Opt for powdered oats instead.

4) To remove the pack entirely and not create a huge mess, take a cloth and dip it in water and then wipe your face. Then wash your face with water and tap dry.

5) Use moisturizer after any treatment on skin. This helps in retaining the water in your skin and keep it fresh.

Homemade face packs for tan removal

Sure you have waited for long to go for that vacation and enjoy a little tanning session. But then when you come back home you realise that the little tan sessions went too ahead leaving you with tanned hands, face and practically the whole you. So here are certain home remedies which will help you to get rid of tanned skin.

1. Cucumber, Rose Water and Lemon Juice: 

While lemon acts as natural bleach, cucumber and rose water acts as cooling agents. In a small bowl take a table spoon each of cucumber juice, lemon juice and rose water and mix in well. Apply the mix with cotton on tanned areas and keep it for about 10 minutes. Then wash it off with cold water. Apply this pack every day after you get back home from the sun.

2. Gram flour and turmeric mix: 

Mix two tablespoons of gram flour with a pinch of turmeric, a tablespoon of milk and a table spoon of crushed orange peel in a bowl with cold rose water. Apply the mix on clean face and let it dry for about 15-20 minutes. Once the pack dries, slowly remove the pack by scrubbing gently in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction; the exfoliation effect will help in removing the tan.

3. Oat Meal and Butter Milk: 

While butter milk is an excellent source for soothing skin and healing blisters and oatmeal is a great natural scrub. In a bowl mix two tablespoon of oatmeal with three-four tablespoons of butter milk and apply on tanned areas. Gently massage in circular motion; let it stay for 15-20 minutes and cleanse with water.

4. Milk and strawberry: 

Not only is this combination a healthy one, it also helps in improving skin complexion and reduction of dark spots, freckles and even pigmentation. Take four-five crushed strawberries and mix it with two tablespoons of milk cream and apply it on face. Let it stay for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse it with fresh water.
